University of Applied Sciences is a medium-sized university. It is located on the beautiful Zeeland coastline in the South-West of the Neherlands. International Business and Management Studies
With International Business and Management Studies (IBMS) you will acquire techniques and skills in the fields of business, management, marketing and sales, and financial management in an international setting. You will have fellow students from all over the world, and will be able to study in another country for six months.
Because of the increasing globalisation, the demand for international orientated, general managers has also increased. The graduated IBMS student has the potential to develop a career in international business. The starting professional has to use persuasiveness, empathy and social skills to collaborate with experts in different disciplines. Wide knowledge of organisations, business and international trade will place the IBMS graduate as a negotiator on management level, both internal as external.


International Business and Languages
During your study you will optimize your language skills as well as your knowledge in the field of international business to be fully equipped to work in an international environment.
The first six months consist of an orientation on the Bachelor programme. Next to English, you choose minimally two other modern foreign languages. You work on your languages skills, you acquaint yourself with the cultures of the various regions, you get a clear impression of the world of tourism. At the second year together with other students from other Bachelor programmes you start a Student Company. You set up a real company, come up with a product or service and search for shareholders.


Vitality and Tourism Management
People nowadays are concerned about their lifestyle, their health and their quality of life. They are looking for a healthy balance between body & mind. This Bachelor programme is developed due to the growing demand for Vitality & Wellness managers within the hotel and leisure industry and the demand for professional advisors in a working context.
The Bachelor programme Vitality & Tourism Management offers an international environment, based on education in the fields of Management, Vitality and Wellness, Sports, Health, Spa and Hospitality. As a V&TM student, you will get an extensive chance to profile and specialize yourself. You will also learn to judge your own functioning and assess your own actions with respect to sustainability, safety and ethics.


Water Management
The Dutch have over a thousand years of experience in water management. In order to meet the growing demand of high-quality water for nature, consumption, agriculture and industries, new solutions must be developed, taking into account and balancing all different interests involved. Cooperation at an international level is pivotal to safeguard the interests of millions of people, to prevent flooding and protect or improve ecologically valuable areas, such as wetlands. It is undeniably important to study water management in an international context. Water Management programme at HZ University of Applied Sciences offers this possibility.

Civil Engineering
In principle, the programme takes four years. Students with excellent records and the required background may be eligible for the shortened three-year programme.
You get subjects such as construction designing to get an insight in the stability of constructions above and underground. Furthermore, you follow courses such as water management and constructing in and with soil, which are often integrated. You also follow a number of Professional Core courses. In these courses you learn the general skills that you need in your future job. In the first semester these are, among others, English and Communicative skills.
In the second year you follow courses in subjects such as water management, urban road design and you deepen your knowledge of construction designing. This year, you also carry out your orienting work placement at a building site.
In the third year you will extensively study the theme of water by means of the courses Canals and Ports and Coastal and Bank Protection. In this year you also follow your minor.
The final year gives you the opportunity to accentuate your education in your own way. You may choose a number of optional courses in one of the fields of study: construction, water or underground building. Finally, you round off your studies with a five-month graduation project.


Delta Management
What is possible in a delta? How can we safely live there? Can tourism be developed there? How can we be sure of sufficient fresh water? The Bachelor Programme Delta Management focuses on these issues. Water, climate, ecology, environmental planning, legislation and regulations, economic insights communication and process management form part of this educational programme.
Delta Management is a broad Bachelor programme. The focus of the lectures is, among others, on water, climate, ecology, environmental planning, legislation and regulations, economic insights, communications and process management. Next to that, you regularly carry out projects together with students from other Bachelor programmes, such as Civil Engineering, Aquatic Ecotechnology, Communications and an economic programme.
This way, you are trained as a professional capable of looking beyond the borders of the technical field of work. As a result, you will easily find a job after graduation because there is a great demand for graduates with knowledge of delta development and coastal environment.


An education with a future!
Approximately 40% of the study will consist of experiments in the laboratories. These experiments are carried out in our spacious laboratories with advanced equipment. Quality is paramount in every respect.
The first two years introduce you to the professional field and you learn everything about general chemistry and biology. In the third year you choose between the majors 'Applied Chemistry' and 'Life Sciences'.
Logistics Management
In the Propedeuse phase the foundations are laid. You will get an impression of your future profession, company processes and problems that need to be solved. You will also widen your scope by making a number of excursions abroad.
You will acquaint yourself with all the aspects of logistics and management, for example Human Logistics, distribution, purchasing, production planning, port logistics, ICT, law and economics. You will work on your knowledge and skills in the field of logistics and carry out practical oriented assignments. This is a very good preparation for your practical internship in the next study year. Furthermore, excursions, company visits and guest lectures will be scheduled.
